Pak-operated Ghazwa-e-Hind Module Case – NIA raids 5 locations in Gujarat, UP and Bihar

Karnavati/Patna/New Delhi. NIA conducted raids on Sunday in Gujarat, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh as part of an operation targeting a radicalised module known as ‘Ghazwa-e-Hind,’ which was being run by Pakistan-based suspects. The NIA searched three places in Bihar, one in Gujarat, and one in Uttar Pradesh. During the raids, incriminating material such as digital devices (mobile phones, memory cards), SIM cards, and documents were seized, according to the NIA.

The case first came to light with the arrest of Marghoob Ahmad Danish, also known as Tahir, in the Phulwari sharif area of Patna district by the Bihar Police on July 14 last year. The NIA subsequently took over the case on July 22 and charged Marghoob under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

According to the NIA, Marghoob was found to be a member of the Ghazwa-e-Hind module, which was operated by Pakistan-based operatives. The module aimed to radicalise vulnerable youth to establish Ghazwa-e-Hind over Indian territory. Investigations revealed that Marghoob served as the administrator of a WhatsApp Group called ‘Ghazwa-e-Hind,’ created by a Pakistani national named Zain. The NIA discovered that Marghoob added individuals from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Yemen to the group with the intention of establishing sleeper cells within the country to carry out terrorist activities.

Additionally, Marghoob created various social media groups related to Ghazwa-e-Hind on platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and BiP Messenger. He also formed another WhatsApp group called ‘BDGhazwa E HindBD’ and added Bangladeshi nationals to it. Further investigations revealed that several suspects involved in the case were in contact with handlers based in Pakistan and were actively propagating the concept of Ghazwa-e-Hind.

The NIA stated that the investigation into the case is still ongoing, indicating that further developments may emerge.
