P.V. Anvar’s Surplus Land case; High Court’s NO to GoK

Kerala (VSK).

Government of Kerala’s (GoK) request to High Court for more time to take action, in connection with the complaint that P.V. Anvar MLA and family possess surplus land, is rejected. Court ruling came on July 11. GoK’s request is to be viewed against the backdrop of HC’s order three years ago. GoK requested the Court to grant more time to submit the affidavit. But HC rejected the request and asked GoK to submit the affidavit on July 18, when it (Court) considers the case again. HC instructed GoK to submit the affidavit explaining the steps taken to recover the surplus land.

High Court’s first order was issued, on March 20, 2020, to recover the surplus land of Anvar and family, within six months. The second order was in January 2022. On July 11, Court considered the contempt of court petition, filed by K.V. Shaji, Malappuram district coordinator of Right to Information Conclave and a landless, pointing out that the HC order has not been implemented.

Anvar, an LDF MLA, has been in news since for some time in connection with several controversial reasons. Latest controversy is regarding his FB posts against media houses and media persons. Most of the posts appear to be threats.

BJP state president K. Surendran asked the GoK to recover Anvar’s surplus land immediately, in view of the HC order. Request for more time is ridiculous. It is clear that Anvar enjoys excess support from GoK. The state is ruled by a state which stands for mafia and looters. CPM’s leader sabotages Land Reforms Act which the party boasts, as their own baby, quite often. This proves the deterioration CPM has undergone.

He added that Land Acquisition Deputy Collector N.K. Abraham, who went ahead with the actions against Anvar, was transferred proves that he (Anvar) enjoys GoK’s support. Anvar is afraid of media as he suffers guilty consciousness. Anvar and team appear to be believing that this is a Communist country.

Surendran stated that GoK suffers continuous setbacks in the Court. Court’s observation on July 10 that the attack of CITU goons against the bus owner Rajmohan at Kottayam was a slap in the face of the Court since Court had ordered police protection for the victim is another example of the slap GoK suffers from judiciary. The Court’s ruling, of July 10, to return the confiscated phone of journalist Visakhan is one more example.
