Bharat has embraced diversity as a way of life – Dr. Mohan Bhagwat Ji

Kozhikode, Kerala. RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat Ji emphasised that Nation gained global recognition within the G20 due to the values of Hindutva, which the rest of the world aspires to attain. Speaking during the Amritashatham lecture series in Kozhikode, he highlighted the unique qualities of Bharat’s culture and society that set it apart. The function was presided over by Dr. John Joseph, former Special Secretary and Member, CBIC.

Sarsanghchalak ji noted that while the rest of the world may be familiar with the global market, they lack experience in the concept of a global family. Bharat, on the other hand, has been living this reality for over 3000 years. He discussed the diversity in Bharat, including various languages, castes, religions, lifestyles and food preferences. Despite these differences, Bharat has embraced diversity as a way of life, uniting people through shared values and samskars.

He pointed out that patriotism is a common thread that runs through all religions, castes and languages in Bharat. Scientific studies suggest that Bharatiyas share a common ancestry dating back thousands of years, with a common DNA and shared samskars. He pointed out that our society is characterised by its unique behavior of embracing diversity, making it a Hindu society in this context.

He stressed the importance of unity within the Hindu society, as organised societies are the ones that prosper and contribute to a prosperous nation. He highlighted that India’s ancestors never sought to conquer or convert others but rather added to existing cultures and filled gaps. The focus was on conquering hearts, not lands.

Sarsanghchalak Ji also discussed the interconnectedness of body, mind and intellect in Bharatiya thought, which differs from the separation seen in the thoughts of people outside Bharat. For those who are ignorant about the above said interconnectedness, to acquire wealth, they will have to forgo their bodily pleasures. One may have to face financial difficulty to live without bearing insult. He emphasised the need to harmonise the aspects of body, mind and intellect for holistic prosperity and salvation.

He mentioned that in the global context, the concept of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family) was gladly accepted within the G20, because it’s a view that goes beyond the global market to encompass the global family, a concept that Our nation has lived for thousands of years.

He explained the importance of organising Hindu society to impart this unique knowledge and emphasised the need for individuals to practice what they preach. He highlighted the role of RSS in training individuals who understand the needs of society and work toward its betterment. He stressed that the organisation’s goal is not for its own sake but for the betterment of the nation and its people.

Adv. P.K. Sreekumar, Managing Trustee, Hindustan Prakashan Trust and Dr. N R Madhu, Chief Editor, Kesari weekly also spoke.
