Special Assistance Campaign by Sewa Bharti for Delhi Flood Victims

New Delhi. The water level in the Yamuna River in the National Capital Region of Delhi has slightly receded, but in the low-lying neighbourhoods along the riverbank, water is still up to two to five feet high. As a result, several residents in these areas are facing significant challenges. Besides the floodwaters on the roads, there is also the overflow of drain water, garbage, and sewage, which is further aggravating the situation. Consequently, the risk of various diseases spreading in the coming days is increasing.

In light of these circumstances, Sewa Bharti Delhi has been actively engaged in relief work in the flood-affected areas of Delhi since the past week. Over 250 volunteers have been deployed at various locations in Delhi, including Signature Bridge, Jaitpur, Mayur Vihar, Yamuna Khadar, Burari, Majnu ka Tila, Shastri Park Metro Station, and other places where relief camps have been set up for flood victims. These camps provide free distribution of food, water, medicine, and other essential supplies to the affected individuals.

According to Sushil Gupta, Mahamantri Sewa Bharti Delhi and Coordinator for relief efforts for flood victims, Seva Bharti is a series of initiatives that connect supportive families and marginalized families in society, and we are making every effort to provide shelter, food, and healthcare services in the areas affected by the current flood.

Specifically, near Signature Bridge, Sewa Bharti and other organizations had facilitated employment for Hindus who had come from Pakistan by setting up camps near the Yamuna River. Unfortunately, the flood has disrupted these arrangements. Currently, temporary tents have been arranged for these displaced individuals along the roadside. Seva Bharti has also appealed to the public to assist in resettling these people.
