Ranjith Sreenivasan murder case – 15 PFI terrorists found guilty

The Mavelikara Additional Sessions Court has found 15 members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) guilty in the murder case of Adv. Ranjith Sreenivasan.

The convicted individuals are Navas, Shemeer, Naseer, Zakeer Hussain, Shaji Poovathungal, Shernas Ashraf, Naizam, Ajmal, Anoop, Muhammed Aslam, Salam Ponnad, Abdul Kalam, Safarudheen, Munshad, Jaseeb Raja, and Shemeer.

Accused one to eight were found guilty of murder, while the 13th accused, Zakeer Hussain, the 14th accused, Shaji Poovathungal, and the 15th accused, Shernas Ashraf, were found guilty of conspiring to commit the crime.

Accused 1, 3, and 7 have been charged with harassing witnesses and destroying evidence. Accused 1, 2, 7, and 8 trespassed and threatened the witnesses.

The incident in the case took place on December 19, 2021, at his residence in Vellakkinar, Alappuzha, where armed PFI terrorists brutally murdered him in front of his wife, mother, and younger daughter. The court found conspiracies in this murder.

The court’s verdict is based on the investigation by Alappuzha DySP NR Jayaraj, who later filed the charge sheet. The prosecution examined 156 witnesses and produced thousands of documents, including evidence. The investigation team also submitted more than thousands of pieces of evidence, including CCTV footage, route maps of the accused, fingerprints, and others in the case.

The court will announce the quantum of punishment for the accused in the murder case on January 30. On January 20th, the Mavelikara Additional Sessions Court found 15 members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) guilty in the murder case of Adv. Ranjith Sreenivasan. The court recorded the statements of the accused regarding the punishment.
