Oman – Indian Social club Sanskrit Wing celebrated World Sanskrit Day

Muscat, Oman. The Indian Social Club Sanskrit Wing celebrated World Sanskrit Day (Vishva-Sanskrit-Diwas) on Friday, September 22, 2023, at the Indian Embassy in Muscat, Main Hall. The honorable Chief Guest for this program was H.E. Amit Narang, Ambassador of Bharat to the Sultanate of Oman.

Vishva-Sanskrit-Diwas is an annual event organized by the Indian Social Club-Sanskrit Wing in collaboration with the Indian Embassy to promote and revive the ancient language, Sanskrit. Sanskrit is a repository of philosophy, spirituality, temporal knowledge, and humanist literature. The celebration of Vishva-Sanskrit-Diwas aims to promote and instill ancient wisdom in the younger generation.

While addressing the gathering, H.E. Amit Narang congratulated the Sanskrit Wing for organizing such an event. He emphasized that Sanskrit is a treasure-house of Bharatiya civilization, culture, and philosophy, as our ancestors have written all philosophical texts in this language. The Ambassador mentioned that in the last 10-15 years, the use of Sanskrit has not only increased in Bharat but also across the globe and in many international universities.

The highlight of the program was when Ambassador of Bharat, H.E. Amit Narang, distributed certificates to students (both adults and children) who passed Sanskrit exams. The Ambassador also shared the stage with all the Sanskrit teachers working in different schools in Oman.

The keynote speaker, Madhavi Rajreddygari, explained the significance of Vishva-Sanskrit-Diwas and the importance of the Sanskrit language for Bharat.

The crowd was overwhelmed when the Indian Social Club Chairman, Babu Rajendra, addressed the gathering and delivered part of his speech in Sanskrit.

Among the dignitaries present were Pradeep Kumar (First Secretary- Indian Embassy), Reena Jain (First Secretary- Indian Embassy), Jayapal Dethe (Second Secretary-Indian Embassy), Indian Social Club’s Hon. Vice Chairman Mr. C.M. Sardar, Al-Maha Ceramic CEO Mr. Ajay Ganti, Intisar Corporation Director Kishore Bhai Mehta, and ISC Hindi Wing Convener Gajesh Dhariwal and Shiva Prasad Mayya along with 300 members of the Bharatiya community who gathered in the packed hall to enjoy Sanskrit songs, storytelling, Sanskrit Antakshari, and other cultural programs conducted by children.

Dignitaries also distributed certificates to the children who participated and won in various Sanskrit language competitions held earlier.
