Jammu Kashmir – Govt dismisses three officials over suspected terror links

Jammu and Kashmir govt has taken decisive action by terminating the employment of three state officials on grounds of their alleged involvement with Pakistan-backed terrorist organizations.

These officials were found to have been assisting the terror outfits by providing logistical support to terrorists and facilitating the financing of their activities, thus promoting the secessionist agenda.

The government cited Article 311 (2) (c) of the Constitution of India to effect the dismissal of the three employees, who have been identified as Faheem Aslam, Public Relations Officer at the University of Kashmir; Arshid Ahmad Thoker, a police constable; and Murawath Hussain Mir, a Revenue Officer.

According to the investigation, the accused individuals were reportedly acting on behalf of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and terrorist groups. In the case of Faheem Aslam, it was revealed that he had previous connections with a known terrorist, Shabir Shah, before entering legitimate business with funding allegedly received from Pakistan’s ISI. Moreover, the content of his writings in prominent newspapers and on social media indicated an intention to legitimize terrorism in the region and support the secession of Jammu and Kashmir from the Indian Union.

The second accused, Arshid Ahmad, had been recruited as a constable in Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Armed Police in 2006. He came into contact with Over Ground Workers of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), which subsequently led him to act as a conduit and logistic supporter for the terror outfit. The third accused, Murawath Hussain Mir, was employed in the revenue department.

The decision to dismiss these three government officials aligns with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s policy of “Zero Tolerance Against Terrorism.” With this latest action, a total of 52 government officials have now been dismissed due to their alleged links with terrorist groups.
